NW Representative Tournament and Year 7 & 8 Festival Day
Netball Waitakere held their annual Representative Tournament combined with our inaugural Year 7 & 8 Festival Day on Sunday 23rd June. For the majority of the day the weather was shining bright. Thank you to the teams that travelled from near and far to support our tournament, in particular teams from Tokoroa, Hamilton, Mangawhai, Pukekohe and Kaipara.
The day was packed with some very competitive games both in the senior games and the junior teams. Waitakere U17/2 vs Auckland U17/2 was extremely competitive with 1 goal in it at fulltime… Following on from this our Waitakere U17/2 had another nail biter against Auckland U15/1 team where the game ended in a 22-22 draw.
Outside games just as exciting with a very competitive tough tussle game between our Waitakere U15/2 team vs Auckland U15/1, with Auckland taking the win 27-23.
Our NW U15/1 ruled outside taking out the U15 grade.
Auckland 9/1 convincingly took out the Year 9 grade.
Whilst Waitakere local club teams JK Whakaruru and Kelston Rebels dominated the year 8 grade both winning their sections, we should have had a play off for bragging rights…..
Year 7 grade Kapai Mangere Vixens owned this grade! Special mention to our Netball Waitakere PDP coming 2nd! Wahoo you girls rock! First year of PDP and we will definitely be doing it again next year!
To all our coaches, managers, umpires and volunteers shout out to you all! We couldn’t do what we love without you! Special mention to our Board Members Ange and Tammy, Life members Zora and Lorna for all your mahi you did over the weekend and our Superstar Grace Nweke for presenting out the prizes!
It was a great day and we can’t wait to do it all again next year!!
